To make things simpler, I have decided to standardise the way I refer to my family members. My husband will be known as Tai Chi Man, my oldest son (currently 16) will be MacAddict (previously Computer Geek), middle son (currently 13) will be Ninja Boy, and my youngest (aged 10) will be Lego Nut.
Free knitting patterns (no restrictions on using but please give me the credit)
Isn't homeschooling great? Ninja Boy and Lego Nut whizzed through Grade 3 in three weeks. Two or three pages a day and they're done. We're starting Grade 4 tomorrow!
Hi Kelly I'm not sure what CTBS testing is - do you mean the Foundation Skills Assessment tests at Grades 4, 7 and 10? I am not in agreement with any compulsory testing and it was with reluctance that I agreed to let two of the boys test this year. Because we've never "taught to the test" I wasn't sure how they'd do so we didn't attach too much significance to the results. They did OK as it happens.
CTBS tests are the Canadian Tests of Basic Skills. I was also worried because we dont teach what is learned at certain grades in the public system either.

Hi Nicola- Just curious- and feel free to not answer if you do not wish to.
We have just gone through CTBS testing. Has your family ever done these exams and what is your opinion on them or exams in general?
Coming from a completely non judgemental place! Just curious as to what other homeschoolers/ unschoolers choose...
